The Singable Line
A lyric is not complete until a voice can break on it. The singable line — the line that sits in the voice naturally, that lets the singer put their whole self into it — is the final test of a great lyric. You can have the best images, the sharpest story, the most honest truth, and if the line does not sing, it dies on the stage.
