The Turn in a Bar

Every great verse has a turn — a moment where the direction shifts, where the listener is taken somewhere they did not expect. In a sixteen-bar verse, the turn usually happens around bar eight or bar twelve. It is the moment where the verse pivots from setup to payoff, from question to answer, from one perspective to another.
