The Pocket

In music, "the pocket" is the sweet spot where rhythm feels effortless — where the beat and the performer are so locked in that the music seems to play itself. In lyric writing, the pocket is the same thing: the point where the words and the rhythm are so aligned that the verse seems to speak itself.
